It's that time of year again! (Our favorite time of year.)
We are so excited for Railfest 2022, being held in Downtown Meridian on November 5th, 2022 from 8:00am-4:00pm.
This year's event features entertainment from the Norfolk Southern Lawmen Band, Scott McQuaig & the Tomcats and a live Podcast recording from the guys at Moving America Podcast. In addition to this great entertainment, we are thrilled to have the Rose Hill Company of Storytellers joining us to share the history and stories of the rails.
Railfest will host something for everyone. For the model railroader there will be multiple layouts in all scales, model train vendors and much more. There will be craft vendors, food vendors, art vendors and even antique vendors. For the kids, we will have several wooden train tables, a few ride on trains, crafts, giveaways and much more! (The very popular hand-rail car will be back again this year!) Our guests will have the opportunity to walk through our equipment, get up close to static display locomotives and meet the engineers that run the trains right here along the Meridian Speedway.
In cohesion to our event, the Mississippi Industrial Heritage Museum will be hosting Soule Live Steam Festival just one block over.
This event serves as Meridian Rails Historical Society's largest fundraiser. The event entrance is free for all to come and enjoy. This day we rely on collecting donations, selling merchandise, recruiting new memberships and sharing our mission with the railroad community.
Please join us, support our cause, enjoy fellowship with your fellow railroaders and have a great time! We are excited to be a part of keeping Meridian's heritage alive. #TheWhistleStopsHere #VisitMeridian
